Chemical Dominoes
|
In this project we created a board game with chemical reactions. Our game had a fantasy life adventure theme. Players would travel the board collecting materials to do reaction at the end of each of the three stages. We learned and used many chemistry concepts, the main ones being single displacement, double displacement, and combustion reactions. Each turn a player would move forward one step then draw a card then do the situation on the card like move forward 2 step or move back 3 steps. The end of the first stage players would create a double displacement reaction making a precipitate. At the second stage players light an LED using a single displacement reaction. During the final stage the players have a funereal for their character in a fiery combustion reaction.

ReflectionThis project turned out great. The board is visually appearing and the game is fun to play. It includes all the necessary reaction included in our prompt. I wish I could have made the LED brighter. The group worked together very well when we were working. We often got off track in discussion and left a lot of the game to last minute. However in our last minutes we completed the full game by working very quickly and efficiently. During this project I used a band saw and belt sander foe the first time. It made making the little house for the first stage of the project much easier. If we could do this project again probably should start working hard that the very beginning.
